Verlene Kay Hanggi went home to be with Jesus August 14, 2015. Verlene was born to Fred and Margie Gilderoy December 5, 1940 in McCall, Idaho. At 3 days of age she traveled to her home in New Meadows, Idaho and was welcomed by her big brother Virgil. She attended her school years in New Meadows and graduated in 1959 then moved to Spokane, Washington to attend Kinman Business School. After graduation she worked a short time in Boise at a local credit union. Upon returning to New Meadows she married Delbert Hubbard. From that union she had 3 sons. Verlene worked for the New Meadows School District as a supervisor and cook in the hot lunch program with the help of her close friend Sharon Dixon. Verlene was a member of the Wild Rose Rebekka Lodge and worked on the election board. Circumstances led to Verlene being a single mother and she remained employed with the New Meadows School District for a total of 17 years and then with the New Meadows Senior Center for 5 years and during this time she married John Hanggi in 1984. This union grew the family and added a son and a daughter. After retirement John and Verlene traveled, later buying a home in Nampa, Idaho where she resided until the time of her death. Verlene is survived by her husband John, children Scott Hubbard/Crystal Ekman, Stephen Hubbard, "daughter" Judy Hubbard, Clint Hanggi/Terry, Teresa Jo/Fred Minkner and 5 grandchildren. Her brother Virgil Gilderoy/Peggy and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Verlene was preceded in death by an infant son Bert Hubbard, parents Fred and Margie Gilderoy and niece Anna.
