Robert Alan Hughes, 47, of Donnelly, ID passed away from natural causes on December 8, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in McCall, ID.  He was born on October 3, 1966 in Santa Monica, CA to Robin M Hughes (Sue) of Hayward, CA and Pamela A McDonald of Manteca, CA.  Robert graduated from Hoover High School in Fresno, CA in 1984.  He remained in California working primarily in the grocery industry, until eventually relocating to McCall, ID in 2003. Shortly thereafter, he met and married his wife, Wendy K. Skanter in 2004, and they became the proud parents of a son, Hunter Alan Hughes.  They lived in McCall until purchasing a home in Donnelly, ID in 2006.

Robert had a true love for music, with a particular devotion for classic rock.  He was self taught in playing the guitar, drums, and keyboard.  Robert also possessed an artistic streak, with a special talent in creating stained glass pieces for family and friends.  He not only loved going fishing out on Payette and Cascade Lakes in his small fishing boat, but also loved having his salt water fish aquarium at home.  Other interests included playing, restoring, and collecting classic pinball machines, and golfing.

Robert is also survived by brothers Michael Hughes of Fresno, CA; Dennis (Brittany) Hughes of Manteca, CA; Kevin Hughes of Hayward, CA; a sister, Debra (Rick) Rodriguez of Mendocino, CA, and step-brothers Loni Parry of Nampa, ID and Daryl (Susie) Root of Noth Carolina; father-in-law, Thomas R. Skanter (Nancy) of Kuna, ID; mother-in-law, Lind Skanter of Boise, ID; sister-in-law, Rochelle (John) Mereen of Portland, OR; and step-brother-in-law, Chris Skanter of Kuna, ID.  Robert was also the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Heikkila Funeral Chapel in McCall, ID on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to AutismSpeaks.Org.
