Owen Mink long time resident of Cascade passed on March 22, 2015
Services will be held March 27, 2015 at 2:00 Cottonwood Cemetery South of Council.
Owen was born Sept 26, 1930 in Council Idaho to Bud and Beulah Mink,
Owen loved the ranch life and was a natural at breaking horses and taking care of cattle. He had a soft touch with all animals, when not at the ranch he could be found at local rodeos riding bareback horses. In 1952 Owen married Gayle Harrington, later they were divorced. In 1955 Owen joined the Army and served overseas, he returned to Council and the ranch after his service. In 1964 the ranch was sold and Owen moved to Nevada and worked on numerous ranches until retiring in 1984 and returning to Cascade. After retirement he still had horses he wrote numerous articles for papers and magazines and was a portrait painter. Owen was loved by people wherever he was from Nevada to Cascade. He always had a friend he wanted to talk to and had a story for them; Owen had a soft touch with horses and people. He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
Owen is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Shauna Gayle Mink.
He is survived by his son; Clark "Butch" and Barbara Mink of Ontario, grandson James and Tina George of Ontario, grandson Justin George of Nampa, Great grandsons, Austin and Kohl, granddaughters Kentlee, Brittney and Monica, also a sister; Fred and Elzo O'Brien of Eagle, nieces and nephews David and Steve O'Brian, Kathleen Buffington, Tamara and Mekenzie.
