Maryann Bruce, of McCall, Idaho, left this life and went to be with Jesus on October 3, 2013 after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.  Maryann was born on March 24, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Christ and Rose Torimino, the youngest of seven children.  Maryann attended Sacred Heart Parochial School in St. Louis and later worked at the Rawlings Baseball factory where she held the unique position of stitching baseballs together.  After that she worked for Teen Challenge Ministries.  Following the death of her parents, Maryann moved to McCall, Idaho to live with her sister’s family, Charles and Pearl Ryan, in 1974.  After moving to McCall, Maryann worked for several years at the Woodsman Café.  It was here she met her husband, Randy Bruce, who was one of her customers.  They were married on December 29, 1979.
The job Maryann enjoyed most of all was the 18 years she spent at the McCall Nursing home.  Mary had a heart of compassion and loved all the patients she took care of and they loved her in return.  She never looked at her job as just a job but as an opportunity to bring joy and laughter to people in difficult circumstances.  Maryann also volunteered many years of service in a puppet ministry at the McCall Pentecostal Church in the children’s department.
Maryann had a strong faith and love of God.  She attended the McCall Pentecostal Church and most recently at the McCall Nazarene Church.  She loved her pets with a special fondness for her cats and cared for them all deeply.  She was close to her nieces and nephews and always stayed interested and involved in their lives.  She played many practical jokes on them over the years and they in turned paid them back at every opportunity.  Maryann will always be remembered for her gift of laughter and the ability to have fun in every situation, even the hard ones.  Through her sense of humor she made life better for everyone around her.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents Christ and Rose Torimino, two sisters Lena Woods and Rose Crane; and two brothers Carl and Dominic Torimino.  She is survived by one brother Joe Torimino of Granite City, IL and one sister Pearl Ryan of McCall.
A celebration to honor Maryann’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the McCall Nazarene Church.  Maryann’s family would like to request that donations made to honor Maryann’s life be made to the McCall Nazarene Church Children’s Department.
