Douglas (Digger) Lee Elliott
3/13/39-6/9/22
The lights have gotten dimmer as we announce the passing of Digger Elliott. He left this world on June 9th while on his way to his summer home in McCall, ID, where he’d spent a lifetime of summers. Digger was born in Nampa, Idaho on March 13, 1939 to Dick & Zoe Elliott. He was raised in Boise, graduated from Boise High in 1957 and joined the United States Navy that year.
Digger attended the University of Idaho and was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He was a diehard University of Idaho Vandals fan, even though they didn’t always give him a reason to cheer.
He met his wife of 54 years, Judie Sherwood, while working for United Airlines in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were lucky enough to have two handsome boys, Cory and Tony, and one beautiful daughter, Kelly. Their family was complete with two loving daughters-in-laws, Mo and Colleen, and a very charming son-in-law, Drewy. They were blessed with four of their favorite people on earth, their grandchildren, Eva, Bella, Elle & Layton.
Digger worked the final 25 years of his career for Wrangler Jeans. Considered a legend amongst his colleagues, and like all real cowboys he grew up loving the rodeo and bled Wrangler Blue.
He lit up every room he walked in to, with his quick wit, charm and smile, not to mention his love of bright colored clothing. Many items were purchased in the ladies department because as he said, “They don’t make any bright colors for men.”
Now, for one final time - Digger is going to bed, “so that all of these nice people can go home”.
Graveside Services will be held on June 17th @ 3 pm at McCall Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life @ McCall Golf Course Event Tent from 4:00-6:00 pm.
