Bruce Carl "Bushy Scott
Bruce Carl Scott, better known as "Bushy," passed away peacefully at
home in McCall on Saturday Nov. 15, 2014, with Jarad and Danielle
Howard attending him.
A celebration of his life will be held at Lardo Grill and Saloon on
Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at 3 p.m.
He was born to William Charles Scott and Marie Brewster Scott on June
13, 1947, in Towson. Md. He grew up as a good Catholic boy who
regularly attended church with his parents and two older sisters,
JoAnne and Jeannie.
Bruce graduated from Towson High School in 1965. Bruce had a red
Austin Healy convertible and Triumph motorcycle when he married Nancy
Murphy in 1967. His only son, Carl Benson Scott, was born in 1968.
In 1971 they moved to Salt Lake City where Bruce worked at the
"Shallow Shaft" across the street from the Alta Ski Resort. While
living at Alta, Bruce discovered his passion for skiing.
Bushy and a van full of ski-bum friends from Alta showed up in McCall
in the late summer of 1971, and in 1972 Bruce moved to McCall and
fell in love with the town and Brundage Mountain, where he continued
to live, ski, play softball, sail, and canoe, raise Ben, and enjoy
all of the many activities that McCall has to offer, until his final
days.
Bruce did construction work all over McCall for many years, and was
employed at Shore Lodge until June 2014, when his health began to
fail him.
Bushy may best be remembered as the corner bar stool inhabitant every
afternoon for the past 40 years at Lardo Grill and Saloon, where he
will be greatly missed.
He is survived by many good friends and family, including his sisters
JoAnne Moore, age 75, and Jeannie Roberston 71; his son Ben, 46, and
wife Margaret; and his two grandchildren, Ava, 10, and Charlie, 7.
