Arthur Rolland Megorden (Rolly) passed away peacefully on December 13, 2016 at age 99 in Boise, Idaho.  He was born to Olin and Elsie Megorden in Homedale, Idaho on April 9, 1917.

Rolly grew up in the Homedale area and later moved to Boise, Idaho where he attended Junior High and High School, graduating from Boise High in 1936.  Following High School he went to work for the National Biscuit Company now known as Nabisco, selling crackers and other products during the depression.  On one of his many sales trips to Riggins, Idaho he met Mary Colina Carrey and in 1938 they married and resided in Riggins, Idaho.

He owned and ran the Riggins Mercantile, the Valley Mercantile in New Meadows, Megorden’s Men’s Clothing in Payette and Megorden’s Market in Cascade.  His work in the grocery and clothing industry spanned 50 years with a brief break during World War II when he moved to California where he was a Foreman for Lockheed Corporation, manufacturing airplanes to help the war effort.

Upon his return to Idaho he moved back to Riggins and returned to operating the Riggins Mercantile and began his family.  Over the years he purchased the other businesses, operating them at different times during the 50-year period.  He retired in 1977 and enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the U.S. in his retirement.

Rolly is survived by his son, Rolland R (Randy) Megorden (Karen) of Meridian, Idaho and Colina Stanton (Stewart) of Manhattan, Kansas.  Grand children include Brandon Megorden of Washington, DC; Lacey Megorden of Boise, Idaho; Brad Stanton (Chrissy) of Bozeman, Montana; Aaron Stanton (Hannah) of Campbell, California; and Great Grandchild Arihiannah Stanton.  He was preceded in death by his parents Olin and Elsie Megorden, and by his wife Mary Megorden.
